Fishing: Holbox is the place to come if you want to have a chance at world-class tarpon fishing. The closest flats are about 15 minutes from the hotel, but you may travel up to an hour for large tarpon. May, June, July and August are prime months for large tarpon, when migrating schools enter the area to feed. The clear water is 8 to 35 feet deep. Fishing the mangrove flats for small tarpon and snook is mostly in clear 2 to 6 feet deep water. Of course weather can change the water conditions.
