FLIGHTS:You will want to arrange your flight into Marsh Harbor on Abaco if you are using a commercial carrier. If chartering a private plane, you can arrange your flight directly into Sandy Point. Please let us know if you are interested in flying into Sandy Point as we need to arrange for customs to meet you there. There is an additional charge for customs to meet you in Sandy Point, and you will need to arrive specific days and times. If you are interested in this option, please let us know so that we can answer your questions.

PASSPORTS: A valid US passport is the best piece of identification to have when traveling to the Bahamas. If you do not have a passport, and original birth certificate and photo identification will be sufficient.

VISA REQUIREMENTS: There is no US visa required for travel to the Bahamas for visits of less than 8 months.

MONEY: The Bahamian dollar is one-to-one with the US dollar. It is easy to use US dollars throughout the Bahamas, but please be aware that it is difficult once you reach Sandy Point to have access to ATM machin es, and there are few places that accept credit cards.

WATER: You do not want to drink the water from the tap at the lodge since it is not purified. There is bottled water available at the lodge.

ELECTRICITY: Electricity is AC, 120 volts. Standard US appliances work fine.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: There are no immunizations required for entry into the Bahamas. For the latest information on health and immunization requirements worldwide, you may visit the Center for Disease Control web-site at www.cdc.gov. There is a medical clinic in Marsh Harbor, Abaco, but we recommend travel insurance in case of any emergency that would require imminent transportation to the US.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: We strongly recommend travel insurance for your trip to the Bahamas. There is a medical clinic on the island, but additional medical access is limited. We have taken great p recautions in providing a trip that is safe and rewarding. In the event that something unexpected were to happen, it would be wise to have prepared in advance by purchasing travel insurance. Evacuation insurance is available for minimal coverage, and complete travel insurance is available for providing help with lost baggage, changed flights, etc. We can provide you with the necessary insurance information.
