The Lodge

The El Dorado Lodge in northeastern Argentina is a small and beautiful estancia focusing on anglers comfort and satisfaction. It is located 200 yards from the Corrientes River in the Esteros del Ibera or Ibera Marshlands. Anglers can reach the river by walking or by car.
The lodge has 3 double rooms fully equipped with air conditioning, full private bath, hot water and 220V electricity. There is a large porch where guests can gander out on the green wide open country and enjoy a cocktail or tie flies.

Fishing

The lodge is located 1 mile from where the river born from the marsh. Depending on conditions we either travel up to the marsh or down to the river to fish for the dorado which canbe anywhere at anytime. The marsh is compossed of streams, ponds and channels while the river has slow currents and many bends with eddies. Ninty percent of the fishing is done on shore. It is possible to sight fish on calm days and before sun set when the dorado is most active.

Dorado for 4-12 pounds are normal while record fish of 30-35 have been caught. Most of the time these larger fish will break leaders or hooks. The dorado is a extremely aggressive predator with powerful jaws and explosive jumps. This makes for a challenging and incredible fishing experince.

Dorado are not the only species in these waters. Fly anglers can target Boga, Surubi Catfish, Peacock Bass, Tararira, Carp and Piranas as well.

Daily Schedule
The day begins with a hearty breakfast at 6:30am and then anglers head out to the river. The ratio of guides to clites is 1:2. Anglers return to the lodge for lunch and a siesta and return to fish until nightfall.
